Rural areas don’t want to be impacted by infrastructure


The following link is from today’s NY Times and discusses a rural area in England protesting against overhead power lines being installed on their property

One line from the article states the following:

The fact that these scars on their landscape are for the benefit of consumers in London adds to the simmering tension. Opponents say less painful alternatives can be found.

This is typical of rural areas that don’t want to be impacted by infrastructure needed to support distant population centers.  It happened in Ontario, Canada between 2009 and 2019, it is happening in Germany at present, and it will happen in NY State.  The state has not taken the rural areas into consideration when doing their planning and resistance to these projects is going to lead to extensive delays on renewable installation, if not preventing them entirely.
