One of my brothers lives in Southwest Virginia and sent me the following article from the Roanoke Times.
Another delay for wind farm in Botetourt County
This reminds me of the large wind turbines on Route 17 near Binghamton that have been there for about a year and I have yet to see them spinning when I drive by them, even on windy days. It also echos many renewable energy projects in NY State and across the country.
The project in the article has been in the planning stages for 10 years and it still hasn’t started construction. This is symptomatic of most renewable projects. Also, note the text in bold regarding the lawsuits pending against the project.
One thing that Virginia and Dominion Energy have going in their favor is that, unlike NY State, they actually built a Jones Act compliant jack ship to install their offshore wind farm. NY State calls its plan the “Climate Leadership……”. If it was truly “Climate Leadership”, someone would have had the foresight to build a compliant jack ship.
2040, when according to the CLCPA all of NY State’s fossil fuel plants are supposed to close, is only 16-1/2 years away.
